Here at LexiCode we’re all about Health Information. And we couldn’t do HI without our HIPs – the talented Health Information Professionals who are the foundation of our company! As we celebrate HIP Week, we want to take this opportunity to recognize the people whose knowledge and skill enable them to manage the data so necessary for medical services and patient care – maintaining and safeguarding patient information, insuring that each patient’s medical record is correct and complete, and that the data necessary for facilities and providers is processed and available in a timely manner.
The theme for HIP Week for 2022 is “Health Information is Human Information.” At no point in recent history has the theme been more relevant. Over the past months we’ve struggled along with everyone else as a pandemic ravaged our world. We’ve dealt with the stress and pain for ourselves, for our families, and for our friends. But HIPs have carried an additional burden; we’ve suffered a second time as we walked that path with complete strangers, reviewing medical records that recorded their journeys in stark, emotionless words. And we’ve carried on, scrambling to stay aware of constantly changing guidance, trying desperately to correctly capture the facts of this insidious disease so that “if” (let’s don’t say “when”) another one appears on the horizon our carefully collected and categorized records will be ready for review, to possibly offer the clue that will help researchers stop it in its tracks.
So for the beneficiaries of our work – the patients, the doctors and clinical staff, the facilities – please take a moment to join us as we celebrate our profession. And for our HIPs, please remember just how important your jobs are – and how amazingly talented YOU are! Congratulations and thank you so much!
